Privacy Policy

Easy Screenshot Plus does all of its work on your computer. This page describes exactly what the extension can access and what it does with it.

Effective August 23, 2026 · Applies to Easy Screenshot Plus 1.2.0 for Firefox

Summary

  • Screenshots are captured, edited, saved, and copied entirely within Firefox on your computer. They're never uploaded.
  • The extension never sends screenshots, settings, or any other information to a server. It has no analytics, no telemetry, and no third-party code or services.
  • The only thing it stores is your settings, in Firefox's local extension storage on your device.
  • There's no account, no sign-in, and nothing to opt out of.

Who this covers

Easy Screenshot Plus is developed and maintained by Quiet Mind Creative. It's a community fork of Mozilla's original Easy Screenshot extension and isn't affiliated with Mozilla or Firefox. This policy covers the extension itself. The Firefox Add-ons site where you install it is run by Mozilla under Mozilla's own privacy policy.

What the extension can access

Firefox asks you to approve these permissions when you install the extension. Each one exists for a specific job:

  • Access your data for all websites — used to draw the region-selection overlay on the page you're capturing, to measure the page for whole-page captures, and to take the screenshot through Firefox's tab-capture API. The extension doesn't read, record, or change page content beyond producing the image.
  • Input data to the clipboard — copies the finished PNG to your clipboard when you click Copy. The extension never reads your clipboard.
  • Download files and read and modify the browser's download history — saves the PNG to your downloads folder when you click Save, checks that the save finished, and, only if you've enabled the setting, opens the folder afterward. It doesn't read or change your other downloads.
  • Display notifications to you — shows a confirmation when a screenshot is saved or copied, or an error if either fails.
  • Storage and a toolbar menu item — store your settings and add a Settings item to the toolbar icon's right-click menu. Firefox grants these without a prompt.
  • Access local files on your computer (optional, off by default) — lets the extension capture pages you open from your own disk (file:/// addresses). It's only used on those pages, and only if you turn it on. See capturing local files for how it works.

Screenshots

When you capture, Firefox hands the image to the extension, which keeps it in memory only long enough to open the editor tab and pass it along. The editor draws the image on a canvas in that tab. Nothing is written to disk until you click Save, and nothing goes to the clipboard until you click Copy. Closing the editor discards the capture. Screenshots aren't cached or kept by the extension after the editor tab closes.

Firefox blocks extensions from private windows unless you allow them. If you allow Easy Screenshot Plus in private windows, screenshots you save from a private window are treated by Firefox as private downloads and aren't added to your regular download history.

Settings

Your preferences — toolbar click actions, filename prefix, the sound and download-folder options, and the editor's last-used color, line width, arrowhead style, and font size — are stored using Firefox's local extension storage on this device. They aren't synced or transmitted, and Firefox removes them when you uninstall the extension.

Network, analytics, and third parties

The extension includes no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking code, and it loads no remote scripts, fonts, or images; the sounds and icons it uses are bundled with it. It doesn't use any third-party service. Its listing on Firefox Add-ons declares that it requires no data collection, and the source code is public so you can verify all of this yourself.

Updates

New versions are delivered by Firefox's normal add-on update mechanism, which is run by Firefox and Mozilla, not by the extension.

Changes to this policy
